Why do our wheels have an aluminum center versus the steel center that some CBN wheels have?

Our wheels are made out of 6061 aluminum and, while not as hard as steel, they are still tough. Aluminum is a better heat sink than steel, so tools stay cooler while sharpening. Aluminum is also a better conductor of electricity, so we feel that the electroplating process works better. In addition, aluminum is lighter than steel so our CBN wheels will not burn out your grinder due to the weight it is turning.
